This street was laid out by local mine engineer and mine owner William Low. His monogram appears over the centre of the arch of Westminster Buildings (more well known, although incorrectly, as the Argyle Buildings), which were constructed as a dowry for his daughter.
The street linked Hope Street with the site of the Wrexham Agricultural and Scientific Society Exhibition of 1876.
