Let’s hope everyone whining about the new Wales tourist tax never have to visit Manchester, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Liverpool, Blackpool, Great Yarmouth, Tweed Valley, Loch Ness, or Moray & Speyside which already have tourism taxes often referred to as “City Visitor Charges” or “Visitor Levies”. Strangely you never heard any of the protests when these taxes were imposed, and Cornwall will soon follow.
The Welsh Tourism Tax is a proposed charge set to be introduced in Wales from 2027. It involves a fee of £1.25 per person per night for most accommodations (like hotels, B&Bs, and self-catering stays) and £0.75 per night for campsites and hostels. The levy aims to fund local tourism infrastructure, promote sustainable tourism, and support the Welsh language. All this fuss for the price of a bar of chocolate? And it hasn’t even arrived yet……..
The eyes of the world seem to be on Wrexham Association Football Club at this moment in time, mainly due to the Hollywood connection we now have. However, the Town has been around for over 160 years now, and there is a rich history behind the current media frenzy. The pages here will give you just a taste of that history. And long may it continue!
Take a look at the collections of historic local video and photographs which I’ve collected over many years, and realise how much of our history we’ve lost.
The collection is regularly updated and added to, , and the links below will take you to those galleries which have most recently been updated.
This website is a collection of my objective opinions on Wrexham, Cymru and the World. These are my views on what should be News, not what we have been told is important by a continuingly restricted media establishment rapidly becoming a propaganda arm of Governments.
There is also a large (and growing) collection of historic photographs relating to Wrexham and its surrounding villages, and also associated items of interest such as Wrexham AFC, The Racecourse and the musical history of the area. “
