Songs about The Town!

1978 Cor Meibion Brymbo mewm ir Gol

Mewn i’r gol! cover (front)

Wrexham AFC, during it’s periods of success, has been the source of musical inspiration for many who support the Club.  A lot of the songs have been confined to the terraces and the dulcet tones of the supporters. Some of our more talented supporters have however captured their songs, and recorded them over a number of years. This is a collection of such songs, and, as I discover more, I’ll be adding to them.

If you do like any of the songs, please help encourage both the artists who sing the songs, and inspire future such creativity by buying the tracks or albums they appear on ( Apple Music, Spotify etc.) . It may only cost a few pennies but you’re ensuring the future of music before it completely degenerates in to ‘sampling’ i.e. copying, and destroys any real creativity.

Imagine waking up in a room in 2030 with no recollection of the past decade, only to be shown a montage of pivotal moments in your life and the world’s history. From global pandemics and political chaos to alien abductions and Hollywood superstars, this rollercoaster of a decade culminates in two A-Listers, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, taking over and transforming a beloved football club. As they face off against arch-rival Hugh Jackman’s FC Romans of Chester in a winner-takes-all match, with a chance to enter the prestigious English Premier League, this seemingly far-fetched tale comes to life.

During the years of 1950–2000 Wrexham FC developed into one of the most respected football clubs in the Football League. Their daring deeds during those fifty years include reaching the quarter-finals of the English FA Cup on three occasions: 1973/74, 1977/78 and 1996/97. The Robins’ most notable recent achievement during this time was, of course, their victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup in January 1992.

However, there are countless other League and cup matches to be remembered, particularly those from Wexham’s golden era of the late 1970s and early ’80s. This book traces the history of the club, right up to the change of their nickname, from Robins to Red Dragons.

This pictorial history, which includes over 200 photographs, will appeal to anyone with an interest in Wrexham Football Club.
